The entire production process - from research, design development and material testing to handcrafting initial samples and the final production – is done in-house here in England by a small team of expert leather-makers. All our design development and bespoke creations are carried out in our Kent atelier.
At Anya Sushko we are very proud to be able to design and produce all our luxury leather goods in England – the country which once supplied the whole world with leather products such as high quality leather gloves and shoes. Our mission is to keep the tradition of leather-making alive here in England.
Leathercraft is an intricate and mesmerising process. It can take weeks, even months, to take the product from an initial idea to the final prototype, depending on the complexity of the design and detail involved. The process always begins with the basic pattern design and cutting followed by the making of a few prototypes before moving to the final sampling and production.

For those who seek the union of elegance and functionality, Italian leather is more than just a material; it is a symbol of sophistication and luxury.
Most Anya Sushko bags are made using full-grain Italian leather, which is soft, subtle, yet also hard wearing. Italian leather is distinguished by its fine quality and unique characteristics, the result of a combination of traditional craftsmanship and time-honoured techniques.
Our Italian leather comes in a large array of colours which means we can accommodate all tastes.
We also use beautiful and strong naturally tanned brown leather for handles, some inner compartments and trims. It arrives from Northampton but originates in Italy. Vegetable tanned leather is made using a natural tanning process that's more sustainable than other methods. Vegetan leather is extremely durable, darkening and softening with age.

We've handpicked each fabric with our customers in mind, ensuring a harmonious blend of softness and durability that transcends ordinary textiles. .

Welcome to Anya Sushko Handbags England, where every accessory tells a story of heritage, sustainability and the timeless joy of exquisite craftsmanship. When developing and producing our collection, we use an array of specialist leather-making tools, which are an essential ingredient to ensuring a high quality product. An image above shows most of the tools that we use on a day-to-day basis.
Precise and beautiful stitching can be seen on all Anya Sushko bags and accessories. We use traditional Adler German sewing machines, with their distinctive cylinder arm and walking foot. Dürkopp Adler sewing machines are known for their high quality and durability. The company has over 160 years of experience in sewing technology.
The raw edges of the leather are finished using a specialist hot iron from France, the exact same tool used by Hermes on their leather goods. A few coats of water-resistant dye in dark brown is applied to keep the edges smooth and polished. Finishing off the edges is a very meticulous and precise process of sanding and painting the edge until it we achieve the desired effect.
