Anya Sushko was born in Riga, Latvia. From a young age she was influenced by Russia's creative traditions, practicing ballet, gymnastics and playing piano. Her creative abilities were recognized and nurtured when she started school, learning languages and studying art and drama.
At Latvia's University Anya discovered a deeper passion in Interior Design. Whilst studying, she enjoyed working as a model for various designers such as Gian Franco Ferre, La Perla, Tiffany & Co across Europe, igniting her initial fascination with, and passion for, the fashion industry.
After completing her Interior Design studies in 2001, Anya decided to continue her education abroad at the renowned Central Saint Martin's College where she was accepted to do a Foundation Year.
Her skills were further developed at the London College of Fashion, where Anya specialised in accessories completing a BA under the tuition of experienced practitioners. Particularly supportive and inspiring was Anthony Vrahimis, who later encouraged the designer to concentrate on leather accessories and gave her the confidence to start her own business. Anya Sushko started designing her first bespoke accessories collection in September 2007 immediately after graduating.
The time spent at the London College of Fashion provided Anya with a deep understanding of fashion and some amazing opportunities to work with leading companies. During her gap year, she was privileged to be accepted at 'EAST' high street retailer, where she learnt the business side of the industry and how large companies operate. She also worked for 'ALEXANDER McQUEEN' couture designer, where she gained invaluable experience of draping, pattern & fabric cutting, garment construction & embroidery for bridal, ready to wear, lingerie outerwear & accessories. Through the time spent at McQueen's studio and Paris Fashion Week in March 2006, Anya's love of haute couture grew, inspiring her to develop high end luxury goods.
